When we hear the the word ‘Christmas’, the first thing that will come into our mind will be hanging stars, carols, cakes and spending and celebrating the day with our dear ones. The celebration of the Christmas starts from the beginning of December. Over the years, Christmas has inspired many authors to write about its spirit and significance.
Christmas embodies charity, forgiveness, friendship and unselfish love. One of the most popular stories that will make your Christmas day will be the ‘Elves and the Shoemaker’ written by Grimm Brothers. The story revolves around a poor Shoemaker and his wife Martha who struggle to live every day.
During one night, the shoemaker dreamed about a beautiful pair of leather shoes and in the morning he amazed by the same shoes in front his eyes. In great joy, the couple bought two more pair of leather for making shoes with the money.
For several weeks, the mysterious activity continued in the night and by selling the shoes the shoemaker and his wife became well-off. During one Christmas day, the shoemaker decided to find out who were helping them. Later they found that two tiny elf’s were making the shoes for them. As soon as they found the truth, they also decided to give something to the elf’s as a reward.
The couple made new dresses, coat, hat and even a tiny pair of shoes for the elfin foots. In the next night, the shoe maker and his wife waited for the little magical creatures to show up. As soon as they reach the shop, they found their gifts and celebrated in joy. Later they left for the house. The shoemaker never saw the elves again but they had made enough money from selling the shoes.
At the night the shoemaker dreamed a wonderful dream of the tiny elves making some one else’s Christmas dream come true. Just like the story, a Christmas is more than wrapped gifts, elaborate meals, it’s a spirit of giving without the thought of getting. Let this Christmas become a wonderful time in each and everyone life…. Merry Christmas….
